East Texas Baptist University invites applications for an anticipated full-time, career-track faculty position in communication studies. The position begins in August, 2020 and will include teaching courses each semester, administrative responsibilities, participation in departmental reviews and assessment, contribution to curriculum development, student advising duties, and university committee responsibilities.



A doctorate in speech communication or closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a specialty and teaching interest in interpersonal communication. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of courses in speech communication such as Fundamentals of Speech Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Small Group Communication, Professional Communication, and Communication Theory. Graduate-level teaching opportunities also exist as part of the university’s graduate degree in Strategic Communication. Teaching and administrative experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. Candidates should have a strong commitment to academic scholarship, the ability to communicate well with students and colleagues, an appreciation for Christian higher education, and demonstrate a personal Christian faith. ETBU faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the University via faculty meetings/workshops and by participating in/attending student activities and events. 


Doctorate required; candidates with work towards the terminal degree may be considered.
